San Juan is a sleepy little town of about 300 permanent residents.  Our main source of revenue is the many hotels and bungalows that line the beach.  During the off season it is quite possible to stroll the whole length of the beach without encountering another person.  This is especially true at sunrise.  We do have turtles coming on shore to lay eggs on occasion.  It is a marvelous experience to watch.  The denizens of San Juan are very respectful of the turtles and watch from a distance.

Most of the hotels have restaurants and pools.  There is also a large public pool on the beach side of the road.  Friday and Saturday nights are our busy times, and most restaurants and taco stands stay open until around 10:00 or 11:00.  During Easter and Christmas the town is flooded with tourists and there is quite often "dancing in the street".  There are two discos and a pool hall, but the discos are only open on the weekend during Easter and Christmas.

Some of the common activities in San Juan are surfing, quads (you can rent them), sun bathing, walking the beach or just people watching.  It's an amazing place, where small children run and play in the streets at any given time - with every adult in town keeping an eye out for them.  Everyone in San Juan is happy and friendly and before you leave you will feel as though you are "one of the family"!
